Celebrating 70 Years of Trench Austria: a Journey from Garage to Market Leader

There’s an air of excitement at Trench Austria as we gear up to celebrate a remarkable milestone: 70 years of excellence. We wanted to take a moment to reflect on our journey from humble beginnings to becoming a market leader in the high-voltage sector.

It all started back in 1954 when Alois Esslinger laid the foundation for what would become Trench Austria by founding Spezielektra Esslinger KG. Working out of a garage on the Harter Plateau in Leonding, Alois embarked on a mission to develop and produce coils and transformers for the high-voltage industry. Despite starting small, Alois’ vision and determination quickly propelled the company forward.

Within a decade, the garage became too cramped to contain our burgeoning ambitions. In 196o, we secured the building license for our current site, setting the stage for expansion and innovation. From these modest beginnings, Trench Austria emerged as a pioneering force in the field of high-voltage technology.

Right from the outset, we embraced a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Alois Esslinger understood the importance of research and development, laying the groundwork for our in-house R&D department and test center. In the 1960s, Alois achieved a breakthrough with a special resin impregnation technique that revolutionized air throttle production. This spirit of innovation continues to drive us forward, shaping our identity as #groundedVisionaries.

As we celebrate seven decades of success, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the high-voltage industry. Our journey from garage to market leader is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and vision of everyone who has been part of the Trench Austria family. We look forward to the next chapter of our story, confident in our ability to lead the way in shaping the future of energy.
