What is your role at HSP US?

I’m an apprentice electrical maintenance technician working under a master electrician who’s very well versed in all types of electrical components. I’m learning from him on-site while also attending Central Piedmont Community College.

Right now, I’m helping with getting the new HSP factory ready before we can start production in July 2026. One example is the access controls we’re setting up where people can scan in and the doors automatically open. It was my first time programming with that technology, so I partnered with a colleague from IT to get everything set up.

I’m especially excited about what’s ahead: the controls, the automation, the big machines we’re going to have in manufacturing. I’ve already heard so much about it, so I’m just ready to see how everything comes together.

About our College Partnership

Kelsea’s journey is part of our U.S. Department of Labor-registered program. Through our partnership with Central Piedmont Community College, we’re creating a sustainable talent pipeline that offers education, practical training, and career opportunities for the next generation of skilled professionals. It’s an investment in people that supports both our site in Charlotte and the development of the local workforce.

What is special about working at HSP US?

As a Charlotte native, I’ve always wanted to help my community. Trench wants to plant firm roots here. Their investment into the city that I love is what stood out and resonated with me.

HSP is also the first US manufacturer for high-voltage bushings. That makes it extremely special because I’m able to be part of something bigger than myself, something that’s helping the world.

With the global need for electricity, the components we produce will be very important. It’s essential for people to get the power they need, and we are a key component to that.

My passion for this work actually comes from my mom. I was the girl that climbed the trees, always messing with something, taking it apart, putting it back together. She came to me one day and said, “Why won’t you become an electrician?” So here I am, living that advice at Trench Group, working with cutting-edge technology and learning something new every single day.

What gets you excited to start your day at Trench Group?

Beyond the mission, the people at Trench Group make it special. My first days have been very welcoming and fast-paced, but when we need to pause, there’s enough grace to allow me to understand concepts I’m hearing or seeing for the first time. The support has been incredible. Everybody’s been very gracious, understanding, and helpful.

To anyone considering joining HSP US in Charlotte: This is a great company to start your career. You’ll learn a lot. You’ll experience new electrical work and cutting-edge, innovative technology.
