GIS Instrument Transformers

GIS current and voltage transformers are used to convert high transmission line currents (up to 6000 A) and voltages (up to 800 kV) to standardized low and easily measurable values, which are used for metering, protection and control of the high voltage system. As such, the need for accurate and reliable current and voltage transformation is essential.

The reliability and security of Trench GIS gas-insulated instrument transformers is based on over 40 years of innovation with gas-insulated units operating under a wide range of environmental conditions. Current and voltage transformers also ensure suitable electrical insulation between high voltage and low voltage measuring equipment.

GIS Current Transformers

  • Customer-designed instrument transformers for each specific application and extended function designs comply with dimensional restrictions, flange sizes and high voltage barrier insulator requirment;
  • Available up to 550 kV;
    Core-in-air (1-phase units) and core-in-gas solutions(1-phase and 3-phase units) available;
  • Core-in-air solutionenable a minimum use of SF6;
  • Perfect transient response time;
  • Shielded against transient overvoltages in accordance with IEC standrads. Special shielding is available;
  • Guarenteed SF6 leakage rate of less then 0,5% per year;
  • All components designed and tested for mechanical stress to withstand up to at least 20g;
  • Accuracy classes in accordance with IEC 61869, ANSI:IEEE C57.13, DIN VDE 0414-9-1/2- (other standards upon request), including special core classes like TPS, TPX, TPY and TPZ ones;
  • Shock indicators warn against unacceptable acceleration during transportation;
  • Stable accuracy over lifetime

GIS Voltage Transformers

  • Compliant with all national and inernationl standards regarding pressure vessel codes;
  • Available up to 800 kV;
  • Clean air (Blue) solution is available up to 170 kV;
  • GIS Power VT solutions available;
  • Custom-designed voltage tranformer for each specific application and extended function designs comply with demensional restrictions, flange sizes and high voltage barrier insulator requirements;
  • Standard designs for single-phase and three-phase units (up to 245 kV incl.);
  • Prevention of stable ferroresonance occurence through integrated ferroresonance suppression or air gap solution;
  • Integrated insulated device as an option,
    Shileded against transient overvolatges in accordance with IEC standards. Special additional shielding is available;
  • Guarantedd SF6 leakage rate of less than 0,2% a year;
  • Explosion-proof design thanks to SF6 and rupture disc;
  • All components designed and tested for mechanical stress to withstand up to at least 20g;
  • Accuracy classes in accordanse with IEC 61869, ANSI:IEEE C57.13, DIN VDE0414-9-1/-2 (other standards upon request);
  • Stable accuracy over life time
